The MACO General Staff exist to help the commander make and implement decisions. No command decision is more important, or more difficult to make, than that which risks the lives of Special Warfare Operators/Officers to impose the Federation’s will over a resisting enemy. Staff organizations and procedures are structured to meet the commander’s critical information requirements.
The Headquarters Staff is the decision-making body of the MACOCOM and is made up of the top Special Warfare Operators/Officers with in MACO.
The Starfleet Task Force 31 MACO Command Staff General Staff is comprised of nine (9) individuals who are charged with conducting the day-to-day business of the STF31 MACO. Their duties include setting policy, awards, recruiting, equipping, training, maintenance, support, readiness, deployment, and education of ST31 MACO Special Warfare Operators/Officers.
All members of the MACO General Staff serve at the pleasure of the MACO Commander, with the exception of the MACO Commander who serves at the pleasure of the STF31 Commander. Any member of the MACO General Staff may be removed from their position at any time for any reason.
Composition
Currently the MACO General Staff is comprised of the MACO Commander (MACOCO), MACO Deputy Commander (MACODCO), MACO Master Chief Petty Officer (MCPO/MACO), MACO G-1 (MACOG1), MACO G-2 (MACOG2), MACO G-3 (MACOG3), MACO G-4 (MACOG4), MACO G-5 (MACOG5), MACO G-6 (MACOG6), and the MACO G-7 (MACOG7). Please note that Deputy General Staff Officers (DGS) and any departmental staff are not considered to be part of the General Staff.
*Note: The MCPO/MACO is an advisory position on the General Staff and does not vote on matters that are presented to the General Staff for consideration.
Selection
Members of the MACO General Staff are appointed to their positions for a three (3) year term by the MACO Commander, with exception of the MACO Commander who is appointed to a three (3) year term by the STF31 Commander.
Members of the General Staff can be any current STF31 MACO Special Warfare Officer (with the exception of the MACO MCPO) who meets the following prerequisites:
- Must be a STF31 MACO in good standing.
- Must have completed the minimum training grade of MACO Grade E7.
Any additional qualifications to be a member of the MACO General Staff are laid out below in the specifics of each MACO General Staff position.
Most members that are called upon to serve on the MACO General Staff are considered career Starfleet Task Force 31 members, who have on average many years of service completed already and have served in various positions within Starfleet Task Force 31 and/or STF31 MACO.
